Immerse yourself in the wonder, history, design and beauty of the Big Three American auto
manufacturers and leading European companies such as Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes Benz
and BMW as well as the eclectic Mid-Century furnishings that echo the personality of these eras, 1950’s to present day. There is no greater manifestation of man’s extraordinary design creativity and mechanical
ingenuity than the modern automobile. This museum celebrates some of that wonderful
kinetic art, and the men, and women, who were instrumental in its creation. They reflect a
time when artists who likely would have been the great sculptors in the Renaissance Age
became stylists, designers and industrial engineers
When Saturday, March 2, 2019 9:30 am – Departing from White’s Restaurant parking lot behind the Hampton Inn, close to the Route 6 side, in Westport, MA.
10:00 am – Arriving at the Car Museum for our docent guided tour of six galleries – Coffee and Tea will be available for our group.
12:30 – 2:00 pm – Lunch at Fieldstones Restaurant, 980 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 Lunch is on your own. (Directions are below, it takes about 7 minutes)
From the car museum: turn right onto Rt. 114, at the first light take a left on to Union St.,
continue on Union St ( 2.5 miles) until you get to Rt. 138 (East Main Rd.)
Turn left onto Rt. 138, Fieldstones Restaurant will be on your left across from Glen Rd.
2:30 – Arriving back at White’s parking lot
How – We will carpool to the Newport Car Museum, Where Located at: 1947 West Main Rd.(RT. 114), Portsmouth, RI; at the Raytheon Complex . Take RT 24 South to the end, toward Newport, RI.
